Biography
Asal Karimi, born and raised in Tehran, moved to Germany in 2011 to study music. She completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Violin at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hanover (HMTMH) under the tutelage of Prof. Jutta Rübenacker and Elfriede Stahmer. Additionally, she has been a recipient of grants and scholarships from the Musikfonds, the Künstlerstadt Kalbe, the HMTMH Foundation, and the Deutschlandstipendium.
She performs with various orchestras, including the Klassik Philharmonie Hamburg, and is active in diverse chamber music ensembles covering a wide spectrum ranging from Classical and Baroque to Contemporary music, Klezmer, and traditional Iranian music. Whether as a soloist, in an orchestra, or with her ensembles, she has performed on numerous stages across Germany, Austria, Italy, France, and Iran. Furthermore, she collaborates with the internationally renowned Tehran-based collective, Yarava Music Group, as a violinist, Kamancheh player, and member of the board, through which she has premiered several works by contemporary Iranian composers.
